Over recent decades, much of the clothing industry has left Austria and eventually Europe as well. In one of Austria’s last remaining sewing and textile workshops, the few seamstresses who remain carry on their craft. Against the backdrop of rattling sewing machines, their stories provide insights into present-day working lives while portraying a vanishing trade in the age of globalized textile production.
